Oh, I think I should clarify and say I loved the ep. And was quite pleased that they created a situation where Rodney was allowed to be as brillant as Sam and as RIGHT as Sam. Something I don't believe SG1 has ever done and could have avoided doing again with the excuse that Sam is THEIR resident genuis so McKay has to be wrong, wrong, wrong again.

And I thought the lemon bit was funny. I could even see it being a running gag between he and Sheppard because until the show actually has Rodney go into shock, I'm disinclined to believe he's actually deathly allergic to citrus.

Mom's a doc and apparently that sort of allergy is extrodinarily rare and the complications of being allergic to vit C are obvious and remamin utterly unexplored in the show.

Rather I think of Rodney's "allergy" in the same sense I think of my garlic "allergy". The fresh stuff (it's the oil I've got a problem with so I can have garlic powder) makes me feel ill -- flu-like symptoms not shock-like or hive-like symptoms. It can ruin an evening for me so I don't take it lightly, but people don't respect or help you avoid things when you say your sensitive to something. The word allergy conjours up lawsuits etc. so instant paying attention by restaurants, etc.

And I can so see myself in a friendship where a friend is chasig me around with a raw garlic clove while I pretend to shriek in terror because, come on now, I'm NOT gonna feel bad if I don't EAT it.

My .02 on the lemon allergy and joke. YMMV
