Yeah, and not only did they threaten him with shooting and lemons, they took him into (the accretion disk around) a black hole, got him shot at by Wraith, and blew up nukes near him! Those things are obviously John's prerogative, so of course he'd be jealous.
(And I loved Rodney shielding his eyes and then peeking JUST as the nuke went off. Perfect.)
