I definitely thought that Cameron was a bit overprotective of Sam. At first, I thought the whole of SG-1 were a bit smug in their dealings with Rodney - pushing how smart Sam was and all that. But then thinking (and watching) again, I realised SG-1 were the outsiders coming to Rodney's home turf and then asking for his help. So they were probably on the back foot and feeling a bit defensive.
After all, asking for help from her greatest rival probably would be a bit of a blow to Sam's ego even though she kinda played it down. And I can see Cam getting sort of "big brother" protective of his team's genius when she's vulnerable. I don't think she would have to say anything - he'd probably sense it anyway.
As for John and the pretty women - yeah, typical. Just, typical. :-)
