Aware Sleep Paralysis has only happened to me a few times, but it's definitely very weird. You can see how some people take for an alien abduction ray of some kind. Apparently it has to do with the overworking of the processes that are supposed to prevent us from sleepwalking or injuring ourselves during dreams.
